Virtual Care

Virtual care is more than video calls

A look at the connective tissue — triage, records, pharmacy, labs — that turns a one-off telehealth visit into continuous care.

When people hear 'virtual care' they picture a doctor on a phone screen. That picture is incomplete. The visible call is maybe ten minutes of a care episode that, done well, spans weeks.

Before the call there is triage: a nurse or care coordinator collecting symptoms, medications and prior results so the specialist's time is spent on judgment, not data entry. During the call there is structured documentation — assessment, plan, prescriptions — written into a shared record the patient can actually read.

After the call is where most clinics fall apart and where the good ones earn their keep. Labs need to be ordered at an accredited partner near the patient. Prescriptions need to reach a verified pharmacy. Results need to come back to the same specialist, not a stranger. Follow-up needs to be booked, not hoped for.

Continuity is the product. The video call is just one frame of it.
